Melissa Young for Mendham Borough Council

Active in the Mendham community

When Melissa Young relocated to New Jersey from the suburbs of Philadelphia in 2012, she chose Mendham because of the great schools and small town charm. Her love for Mendham has grown since then as she’s become involved in the community through chairing the 8th grade fundraiser, sitting on the HSA board, and volunteering with the Music Boosters. Currently, Melissa is on the Mendham Borough Board of Health and is a contributing writer for Mendham Neighbors magazine.

Experienced project manager, skilled communicator

The skills that Melissa has developed through an 18 year career in the pharmaceutical industry will serve her well as a council member. She has had roles in sales, training and development, and strategic accounts, all of which have contributed to her excellent communication skills. Melissa is a thoughtful, analytical person with experience in project management and strategic development. She has a keen ability to collaborate to find solutions for both short and long-term goals.

Thoughtful and open to new ideas

As a proud single mother, Melissa will bring her experience of raising 15 year old twins, each with their own unique needs. She looks forward to the opportunity to find creative and forward-thinking ways to help Mendham appeal to more families looking for a beautiful town to raise their families.

Values transparency, civic engagement, and a stigma-free community

Melissa is a cheerleader for transparency and civic engagement which she believes go hand-in-hand. By making meetings more accessible and communicating through a variety of platforms, she believes we can all help Mendham Borough thrive. She is also passionate about promoting a stigma-free community and encourages more people to become involved in understanding and helping people with mental health issues.

Melissa is excited to bring a new perspective to the Mendham Borough Council.
